Volunteer Service Graduation Requirement:
The Class of 2027 and the Class of 2028 students must complete 75 documented community service hours before graduating. Community Service Learning refers to volunteer work that individuals or groups undertake to benefit their local community or society at large. It is a way for students to give back to their community, make a positive impact, and promote social responsibility. Students do NOT get community service hours if they receive payment for their service. Students must provide an adult's name and contact information so they can be contacted if needed to verify the community service hours.
Community Service Examples: Helping with a Vacation Bible School, Helping at Summer Camps (including camps for athletics/cheer/dance, band, JROTC, FFA, ect), Volunteering at an animal shelter or food bank).
If a student completes community services with a staff member from Brookland School District the student is responsible for completing the Community Service Google Form. Parents can help submit the Google Form after any service.

Course Placement: A high GPA can lead to eligibility for advanced or honors courses, which can provide a more challenging and enriching academic experience.
Future Opportunities: While high school GPA might not be as crucial in later stages, it can set the foundation for future academic and career opportunities. It can influence recommendations and give you a competitive edge in job or internship applications.
